We started and finished the show in South Korea – firstly with composer and multi-instrumentalist, Park Jiha, who returns to the UK in the Spring for shows in London (Tue 1 April @ Cafe OTO), Bristol (Thu 3 April @ St George’s) and Leeds (Fri 4 April @ Opera North) – from her new album, All Living Things, and lastly with a duo called Dal:um (pictured) from their recent Coexistence release. In between, two from Puerto Rico’s El Gran Combo who played a great show in Brixton recently, Lophae from London ahead of them launching their excellent debut album, Perfect Strangers, on April 30 at the Vortex and the new single from Jalen Ngonda.  

We remember the recently departed Roy Ayers, Gwen McCrea and Roberta Flack. There’s also some Amampiano from Felo Le Tee, Scotts Maphuma & Thabza Tee, some soukous from Felix Wazekwa with valuable assistance from Papa Wemba; Salsa from Celia Cruz, Ismael Rivera and Ray Perez and, a first from me, Bad Bunny.
