Most of the reggae was inspired by a celebration of what would have been the 86th birthday of iconic producer Lee Scratch Perry aka The Upsetter (had he not died last August). It happened at The Social last month and was hosted by David Katz who has an updated version of People Funny Boy, his Lee Scratch Perry biography. He chatted with Dennis Bovell (Matumbi, The Slits, Silly Games – Janet Kay, Linton Kwesi Johnson …) and Adrian Sherwood DJ, Producer of On U Sound Sound System fame. Everyone swapping off the wall anecdotes of their adventures with Scratch. Bumped into Robin from Soothsayers there. They have a new version of their excellent We Are Many album called We Are Many Versions (of course!) out now on Wah Wah 45s.
