The music of Miles Dewey Davis III (May 26, 1926 – September 28, 1991) will be celebrated over the weekend of May 23/24 with 48 hours of “Miles Runs The Weekend Down – Miles @ 100” on One Jazz Radio. I will be presenting – for one month only – Near Enough For Miles although a few Miles related bits made it into this show.
Miles’s influential sideman, Bill Evans, is included in the show’s playlist as well as a 20 year old Miles alongside Charle Parker; Ronny Jordan’s massive cover of So What! had to be included as well as Miles himself with Tutu and Sly & Robbie’s take on Miles’s Black Satin.
