Katia B “Mais Uma”

Brazilian singer/composer Katia B has delivered an album full of lush melodies and classy arrangements and she’s equally at home singing in her native Portuguese as well as in English.

“Mais Uma” is the second solo album from Katia B. Katia’s debut was called, logically enough, “Katia B” and was mixed by the late Suba which led to Katia writing for, and singing on, what tragically turned out to be Suba’s only solo album, “São Paulo Confessions”. Katia co-wrote “Segredo” with Suba and participated in 2002’s “Tributo” album that was put together following Suba’s wastefully early death.

Katia’s own version of “Segredo” is included on “Mais Uma” as is her version of “Are You Sleeping?” which Suba began writing and which Katia and Bid completed after Suba’s death. “Are You Sleeping?” also includes Katia’s close friend, the world-renowned musical genius, Egberto Gismonti on piano. The “Tributo” version also appears on “Mais Uma” as a bonus track.

For “Mais Uma” Katia worked with several producers such as Bid (electronic and lounge) and Marcos Suzano (great Brazilian percussionist who travels the world spreading serious Samba beats). Other great local musicians took part such as Katia’s husband João Barone (drummer with Os Paralamas do Sucesso) and on “Tanto Faz para o Amor” Lucas Santtana from Bahia duets beautifully .
