A few (mostly) instrumentals to start with, all new, very beautiful and atmospheric. A couple of tunes from the Shaft soundtracks remembering Richard Roundtree the actor who created the John Shaft template “the man that would risk his neck for his brother man”. 

There was Sean Khan Presents The Modern Jazz & Folk Ensemble playing an old Pentangle tune, featuring original vocalist Jacqui McShee although I didn’t know that when I played it on the show (followed by Pentangle’s “Light Flight”). The Modern Jazz & Folk Ensemble play Grand Junction, 16 November as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival. 

New tuneage from Actress, Lenhart Tapes, The Outer Worlds Jazz Ensemble, Pete Perignon, Highlyy, LuuDadeejay/George Benson, new Salsa out of London from Orquesta Mambarito, Pachyman, Yemi Alade, remixed Seun Kuti x Black Thought, and Morgan Harper Jones’s new single that she opened her lovely Hackney show with a couple of weeks ago (thank you Nina … and Morgan, of course). Reissued Fruko plus Fania Flashbacks and a Congolese classic from Kékélé

Very pissed off with myself because I still haven’t quite come to terms with the pre-fade on the newish desk which means that the sound is a little messed up to start with. Always room for improvement!
