Gerry Lyseight Presents: Near Enough For Jazz (6 February 2026) – One Jazz Radio

Congrats to whoever came up with the term ‘Genre fluid’ in describing Snarky Puppy who kick off the show. More from the rich and diverse output of Joni Mitchell with tunes from her “Joni’s Jazz” Box Set followed logically and musically by collaborator Charles Mingus.

New music from trumpeter Ingrid Jensen with very special guest, George Coleman; and from Venezuelan pianist, Edward Simon. Vintage Salsa from Johnny Pacheco, newly reissued Salsa Dura from La Cucaracha Brass aka Bobby Marin, plus Grupo Um whose ‘Nineteen Seventy Seven’ album was prohibited during the rule of the cruel military junta in Brazil – which lasted from ’64 -’85 – finally lets loose on Joe’s Davis’s Far Out record label. On the subject of that tragic period in Brazilian history check the film “I’m Still Here” if you can, which is a wonderfully evocative film sent in that era.
