The Royal Edition: celebrating what would have been the 100th birthday of El Rey De Timbal, Tito Puente.
A major event involving royalty. “El Rey”, Tito Puente, would have been 100 years old on April 20 2023. Tito was mostly known as El Rey, with Celia Cruz as “La Reina”, The Queen. Tito released his 100th album in 1991 and he died on 1/6 2000.
Ernest Anthony Puente Jr., commonly known as Tito Puente, was an American musician, songwriter, bandleader, and record producer born in New York of Puerto Rican descent. He is best known for dance-oriented mambo and Latin jazz compositions from his 50-year career. His most famous song is “Oye Como Va”.
King Of The Mambo, King Of The Timbales or just El Rey.
There appears to be some other royal event taking place but I’ll stick with Tito Y Celia.
