A bona fide Brixton legend (and far beyond). As a member of the trail-blazing, Cymande, Bammi is featured in the documentary, “Getting It Back”, and has been a stalwart of Jools Holland’s Rhythm and Blues Orchestra for over 20 years.
Bammi has played with everyone from Paul Simon, Miriam Makeba and Hugh Masekela to Aswad and Jazz Jamaica as well as rocking our Mambista events at Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses for the last 2 summers. It is no exaggeration to say that Bammi is a very special musician – with a career that stretches back to the Windrush generation*. We have to honour and cherish that unique musical history while we can; and it’s hard to beat a session of vintage jazz, ska and reggae on a warm Summer’s evening under the stars!
