Xande De Pilares, The Modern Jazz & Folk Ensemble cover of John Martyn’s Solid Air; a new Jazz Room release: a cover of Grover Washington Jr.s Mister Magic, previously only available in Japan, from Dean Fraser & Robert Dubwise Browne, Radar Station (Toby Mills) and Ben Somers, (both former members of the excellent Ethio-Jazz-Dub outfit Dub Colossus, with new music to commemorate the passing of their dear friend Nick Page who founded D C), Sheila E, long-time Prince sidekick, and solo artist, with her debut Salsa release (pictured); trippy, funky Spiritual Jazz from Kahil El’Zabar’s Ethnic Heritage Ensemble, AfroCuban Jazz from pianist Zaccai Curtis. more from Shay Hazan, also Morgan Harper-Jones, and a little ‘Amampiano in the area’ from Soa Mattrix & Mashudu.

Moncho Rivera, Nick Drake (after “Solid Air, of course!), some Alvorada ahead of their Mambista gig in Brockwell Park on 29/6, Agustín Pereyra Lucena re-released, Congolese supergroup Kékélé, NY supergroup Fania All Stars’ and some tuff new Afrobeat from Bukky Leo – mixed by Gilles Peterson – ahead of Bukky’s Mambista gig on Friday May 24th.
