Enjoying Ami Taf Ra’s Brainfeeder debut, produced by Kamasi Washington. We remembered jazz and folk bass player, Danny Thompson, best known for his sensitive, solid and uplifting playing with Pentangle, Nick Drake and John Martyn who died recently aged 86.
At the other end of the spectrum Sarah Elizabeth Charles sings about the new life inside her; Jazzmeia Horn and Brandon Sanders revive an Aretha classic; excellent new music from Nepali percussionist Anmol Mohara, Scotland-based Canadian bassist Tom Lyne, one-time ‘Jazz Punk’ drummer, Seb Rochford; and classic Cuban jazz funk from the great Gonzalo Rubalcaba.
Happy 82nd birthday to Joni Mitchell for November 7th. As i say in the show, Joni has always been there for me and I can only wish her many more birthdays and acknowledge her value and importance while she remains with us.
