Gerry Lyseight Presents Near Enough For Jazz – April ’25 – One Jazz

All new releases except for Rebeca Mauleón from her Round Trip album from 1998. Rebeca is a fine Bay Area pianist/arranger and educator who somehow missed out on being part of the “Salsa De La Bahia – Renegade Queens Vol.3″ album which celebrates female musicians in the Bay Area and from which I played the excellent Mary Fettig – I’ll definitely be returning to the album in future shows. We also had pianist Janette Mason reimagining David Bowie; drummer Allison Miller fronting the One O’Clock Lab Band out of Texas; an epic from Omar Thomas; UK representation from The Lewis Express ft Chip Wickham and also Lewis Daniel; Afro-Puerto Rican Jazz from bassist Alex “Apolo” Ayala; more cool, melodic Norwegian jazz from Kjetil Mulelid; and new Kneebody with a lesson on how to play both bass and drums simultaneously! Not to be tried at home!
